We're big Timbers fans around here. My hubby has season tickets and my boys love to go to games with him. (I only go when David Beckham is playing.) Isaiah is also on a competitive soccer team so it was no surprise when he requested a Timbers party to celebrate his 10th birthday. (I still can't believe I have a boy in double digits!)
We decided to host the party at a park so that the boys could actually play a soccer game. This was my first time having a party at a park and honestly, I loved it! I went back and forth on whether or not to rent the covered space or just try to show up early and get it and I'm so glad I decided to reserve it! It was only $30 and right after we arrived, a big day care showed up and wanted to use the space but thankfully I had it. It posed a bit of a challenge in not having the party at my home as I couldn't decorate exactly as I wanted to (I really wanted to do a backdrop for the dessert table) but then it was SO nice not having to clean my house or anything before hand! Lol! I decided to just put most of the focus on the dessert table and then dress up the kid table, as well. (There was a third table that had the food and water on it.) And I must give a shout-out to my friend Michelle that came and helped me set up everything, even though she wasn't feeling well. :)
I kept it very simple and made sure everything was easily portable since it had to be transferred to the park. Isaiah picked out the food (we actually went through Pinterest and he picked out what he wanted, lol!) Cake donuts dipped in candy melts, rice-crispy treat balls dipped in candy melts, vanilla and chocolate cookies (he LOVES these, I think they're gross! Ha!), popcorn and candy.
I loved the wood rounds as serving platters! For those of you that don't know, whenever the Timbers score a goal, Timber Joey saws off a round from a big log and gives it to the Timbers player that scored after the game. It's pretty cool actually. So, of course I had to include them into the party. I added plain white serving platters from Crate and Barrel. The center "cake stand" is actually a square bowl flipped over with a round on top. I cut out a big circle from a white piece of paper and placed it under the donuts. The striped table cover is just some fabric I got at the craft store.
The banner was made using my Cricut Die-cut Machine. I used the Mini-Monograms Cartridge for the actual banner part but I can't remember what font I used, sorry! The foam axes were from the local soccer store.
The kid table was super simple but cute. I used several Timbers scarves down the center of the table, another wood round, a soccer picture from with pictures of Isaiah in it, a glass jar with soccer balls and balloons. The paper goods were from Wal-Mart on clearance (yay!) that I got months ago.
The water bottle labels were made in Photoshop Elements. I had a friend send me the graphic and then I added the boys' names to each one.
The favor bags were made using the same graphic as the water bottle and were filled with glow in the dark axes (so perfect!!), soccer ball shaped water bottle and candy from the dessert table. I had also planned on giving each kid one of the small soccer balls that were in the glass vase on the kid table but I forgot. :)
We did one game (besides playing soccer.) I used this idea and adapted it for the party. We filled the balloons with gum, sequince and a couple of balloons had dollar bills in them. The boys loved this! I (unfortunately) didn't get a good picture of the game but this will give you an idea of it.
The tutorial says to use foam core from the hardware store, but I didn't want to spend that much, so I just used 4 foam core poster boards from The Dollar Tree that I duct taped together on the back. :) Honestly, it was pretty tedious making the balloon board but definitely worth it. (I had a friend help me make it - thank you!) Then the boys just used regular plastic tipped darts and they worked great!
Here's the sign I posted at the entry to the park. (It was pretty windy so it looks kind of warped in the pic.) Again, I used my Cricut to make th words and attached the post board to some dowels that we hammered into the ground. Here's the sign I posted at the entry to the park. It was SUCH a fun and easy party! The boys all had a wonderful time and I hope Isaiah felt blessed! I know it blesses me SO MUCH to get to be his mama and celebrate him.
Amazing Katie!!!
